About War Speed

Despite the name, this is the real-time card game Speed, not War. You and an AI opponent race to empty your hands first by playing onto two shared center piles. Both of you start with a five-card hand drawn from a fifteen-card draw pile, plus two five-card replacement piles set aside. A card from your hand is playable on a center pile only if its rank is exactly one higher or one lower than the pile's top card, with Ace wrapping around to King. Click a card to drop it on the first valid center pile; your hand instantly refills from your draw pile so you always have five options. There is no turn order: the AI plays automatically every fraction of a second, so the faster reader and clicker wins. When neither side can play, one card from each replacement pile flips up to reset the centers, and if those run dry the centers are seeded with fresh random ranks. The first player to clear both their hand and their draw pile wins the round. Your running total of games won is saved locally.

How to Play War Speed

Both you and the AI hold five cards, backed by a fifteen-card draw pile and two five-card replacement piles, with one card showing on each of the two center piles. Play a hand card onto a center pile whenever its rank is one above or one below that pile's top card (Ace connects to King), and your hand refills automatically from your draw pile. The AI is doing the same thing in real time on a fast loop, so move quickly. If both of you get stuck, a card from each replacement pile flips onto the centers; once those are gone the centers reset to random ranks. Win the round by being the first to empty both your hand and your draw pile.

Controls

Click or tap a card in your hand to play it onto the first center pile it fits, which must hold a rank one higher or one lower than the card (Ace wraps to King). An invalid tap does nothing. Press P or Escape to pause and resume.
