About War Card Game

War is one of the simplest and most beloved card games ever invented, and now you can play it for free online at FastPlayGames.com. This classic two-player card game pits you against the computer in a straightforward battle of the cards: each player flips their top card, and the higher card wins both cards. When both players reveal cards of equal rank, it is War, a dramatic showdown where additional cards are placed face down and a final face-up card determines who claims the entire pile. The game continues until one player captures all 52 cards and wins. Our browser version features smooth card-flipping animations, a clean interface, and an automatic card counter that tracks each player's remaining deck size. While War is primarily a game of luck, the excitement of ties leading to War scenarios, the momentum swings when a large pile is won, and the gradual progression toward victory make it surprisingly engaging and fun to watch unfold. War is perfect for casual gaming sessions, relaxing gameplay, and anyone who loves the nostalgic charm of simple card games. The game is fully optimized for both desktop and mobile browsers, so you can enjoy this timeless classic anywhere. No strategy guides needed here; just flip your cards and hope for the best in this pure luck-based casino card game.

How to Play War Card Game

A standard 52-card deck is shuffled and split evenly between you and the computer. Each round, both players flip their top card simultaneously. The player with the higher-ranked card wins both cards and adds them to the bottom of their deck. If both cards are the same rank, War is triggered: each player places three cards face down and one card face up. The higher face-up card wins all the cards in the War pile. If there is another tie during War, the process repeats. The game ends when one player has all 52 cards.

Controls

Click the deck or press Space or Enter to flip your next card and resolve any War. Press Esc or P to pause, and use keys 1, 2, and 3 to set the play speed (Slow, Medium, Fast). On mobile, tap your side of the table to flip. When the game ends, click or press Space on the game-over screen to start over.
