Editor's Notes
Turn $10,000 into a fortune across exactly 60 trading days in this fast, no-risk market simulation
What players will love
- Spread your cash across several of the six tickers so one bad headline can't wipe out your account
- Watch the news banner each day; a single story can swing one stock between roughly -20% and +25%
- BLDG and ENRG have the highest volatility, so they offer the biggest swings in both directions; FOOD is the calmest
- Prices revert toward their base over time, so a stock far above its base is more likely to drift back down
- Don't dump everything during a market-wide recession event; the upward drift and mean reversion often recover the dip

About Stock Trader
Turn $10,000 into a fortune across exactly 60 trading days in this fast, no-risk market simulation. You trade six fictional tickers, each with its own base price and daily swing: TECH at $150 (volatile), FOOD at $45 (steady), ENRG at $80, BANK at $120, HLTH at $200, and BLDG at $60 (the wildest mover). Prices drift with a slight upward bias each day and gently revert toward their base price, so nothing runs away forever. Every day there is a 30% chance a news headline hits, pulling a single ticker anywhere from about -20% to +25%, and two market-wide events can send everything up roughly 8% in a bull run or down 10% on recession fears. Advance the market one day at a time with the Next Day button (or Space/Enter), or flip on Auto Advance to step forward automatically every 1.5 seconds. Buy in fixed lots with Buy 1, Buy 5, or Buy Max, and exit with Sell 1 or Sell All. A 30-day line chart under each stock shows where it has been, and your portfolio summary tracks cash, total value, and your running return percentage. When the 60 days are up, your score combines the value you locked in through sales with your remaining portfolio.

How to Play Stock Trader
You begin with $10,000 in cash. Each of the six stocks shows its current price and a 30-day chart, so you can see recent direction at a glance. Use Buy 1, Buy 5, or Buy Max to take a position, then advance the day with Next Day, Space, or Enter (or turn on Auto Advance). Each day prices drift slightly upward, drift back toward their base price, and may be jolted by a news headline. Watch the news banner: a positive story spikes one ticker while a recession or bull-run event moves the whole market. Sell with Sell 1 or Sell All to bank gains before a drop. After 60 days the game ends and scores your combined sales plus remaining portfolio value.
Controls
Use each stock's Buy 1, Buy 5, and Buy Max buttons to purchase shares and Sell 1 or Sell All to exit. Press Space or Enter to advance one trading day, or click Auto Advance to step forward automatically. P or Escape pauses. On mobile, tap the buttons to trade.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a game of Stock Trader?
Exactly 60 trading days. You advance them one at a time with the Next Day button (or Space/Enter), or switch on Auto Advance to step forward automatically every 1.5 seconds. When day 60 ends, the game scores you and shows the game-over screen.
How do prices move?
Each day a stock's price changes by a small random amount scaled to its volatility, with a slight upward bias, then reverts a little toward its base price. On top of that, there is a 30% chance per day of a news headline that pushes one ticker (or the whole market) sharply up or down. There are no company fundamentals or earnings reports to read; it is a random walk plus scripted news.
How is my score calculated?
Your score combines the value you realized through sales (price times shares sold, divided by 100) with your final portfolio value at the end of the 60 days. You can start over from the game-over screen after the run completes.
