About Space Trader
Buy low, sell high across six planets in a 50-turn race to build the biggest fortune. Each world — Terra Prime (food), Forge World (metals), Crystal Moon (gems), Shadow Station (tech), Nebula Port (fuel), and Ice Frontier (medicine) — sells its specialty good at just 40% of base price, making it the place to load up before hauling elsewhere. Six goods trade across the galaxy with base prices of Food $20, Metals $50, Gems $120, Tech $80, Fuel $35, and Medicine $100, and every price re-randomizes between 0.5× and 2.0× of base after each jump, so a route that paid off last turn may not the next. You start with $1000 and a 20-slot cargo hold, and each trip costs a flat $10 times your engine level. Travel is risky: every jump rolls events — a 15% chance pirates strip 10–30% of your cash (shields soften the hit), a 10% market crash halving the destination's prices, a 10% demand surge that spikes one good to 2.5×, and a 5% chance of finding $50–150 in floating debris. Three upgrades are available: +10 cargo for $300, an Engine level for $500 (which only raises the flat travel cost), and a Shield level for $400. After 50 turns, your final score adds your total wealth — cash plus cargo valued at base price.

How to Play Space Trader
You begin at a planet with $1000 and 20 cargo slots. Check the current market, then buy the local specialty good — each planet sells its specialty at 40% of base price, so it's the cheapest place to stock up. Jump to another planet (number keys 1–6, or its travel button) for a flat $10 times your engine level, where prices have re-rolled, and sell your cargo at the new rates. Each jump uses one of your 50 turns and may trigger a random event. Reinvest profits into more cargo or a Shield, and aim to maximize your total wealth — cash plus cargo — by the time the turns run out.
Controls
Planets appear as a vertical card list — tap a planet's travel button (or press number keys 1–6) to jump there. Tap a good's buy or sell button at the current market to trade. Press P or Escape to pause.
Tips & Strategies
- Each planet sells its own specialty at 40% of base price, so buy specialties cheap there and sell them where prices have re-rolled higher.
- Prices fully re-randomize (0.5× to 2.0× of base) after every jump, so sell as soon as you find a good price rather than holding for a 'better' market.
- The +10 cargo upgrade ($300) lets you carry more per trip and is usually the most profitable buy, since every extra slot multiplies your gains.
- Skip the Engine upgrade unless you need it — it only increases the flat travel cost and gives no speed benefit.
- Shields ($400) cut the cash pirates steal; since pirate attacks have a flat 15% chance on every jump, a shield pays off over a long run.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do market prices work?
Each planet sells its specialty good at 40% of its base price; all other prices are randomized between 0.5× and 2.0× of base. Crucially, every price re-randomizes after each jump, so there are no fixed trade routes — you read the current market and react. Your own trades do not move prices.
What happens during travel?
Each jump rolls a single random event: a 15% chance pirates steal 10–30% of your cash (a Shield reduces the loss), a 10% market crash that halves the destination planet's prices, a 10% demand surge that boosts one good to 2.5×, and a 5% chance of finding $50–150 in debris. Pirate encounters resolve automatically — there is no combat or fleeing.
What ship upgrades are available?
Three: +10 cargo capacity for $300, an Engine level for $500, and a Shield level for $400. The Engine only raises the flat per-trip travel cost rather than adding speed, so cargo and shields are the practical buys. There are no weapons or scanners.
