## About Badminton

Cover your half of the court, jump for the shuttle, and try to bury a smash before the AI can scramble it back. This is a single quick match to 21 points against one computer opponent, no deuce required, and your final point total is saved as your best score. You move side to side with the arrow keys or A and D, leap with Up or W, and swing with the Space bar. There are two ways the shuttle comes off your racket: a normal return that floats up with a power of 7, and a downward smash with a power of 12 that only fires when you swing in mid-air with the shuttle up near net height.

The shuttlecock behaves like the real thing, drifting through heavy air drag and falling under reduced gravity as it clears the net, bounces off the walls and ceiling, and finally drops to score. The AI tracks the shuttle on its side, auto-jumps to cut off high shots near the net, and swings on its own cooldown, so you have to outmaneuver it rather than overpower it.

## How to Play Badminton

Stay on your half of the court and swing with Space as the shuttle comes near. A normal swing sends the shuttle up and across the net, while a smash, which fires downward with more power, happens only when you swing while airborne with the shuttle up around net height. Jump with Up or W to set up that smash. Win a point whenever the shuttle hits the ground on your opponent's side, and lose one when it lands on yours. The first player to 21 points takes the match.

## Controls

Move with the Left and Right arrows or A and D, jump with Up or W, and swing with the Space bar (there is a short cooldown between swings). On a touchscreen, tap the left or right third of the screen to move and the center to swing.

## Badminton Tips & Strategies

1. Stay near the middle of your half after each shot so you can reach the next return.
2. To smash, jump first and swing while you are in the air with the shuttle still high near the net.
3. On the ground you can only hit a normal lifting return, so use jumps to add power.
4. There is a brief cooldown after each swing, so do not mash the button or you may whiff the next contact.
5. The shuttle drifts a lot through the air, so move to where it is settling rather than where it is now.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How do I perform a smash in Badminton?

Jump with Up or W and swing while you are airborne with the shuttle up around net height. That mid-air swing fires a downward smash with extra power; any swing made on the ground is just a normal lifting return.

### Is there an opponent or just practice?

You play one quick match against a single computer opponent. It chases the shuttle on its half, jumps to intercept high shots near the net, and returns on its own timing. There are no tournaments or difficulty settings.

### How do you win a match?

It is a single game to 21 points with no win-by-two requirement. You score when the shuttle lands on the opponent's side and concede when it lands on yours. Your final total is saved as your high score.
